ANIME

Anime is a shorter version of a word animation which describes a piece of art connected to animated movies. In Japan anime is a very popular and even in school there are lessons connected to this topic. It is similar to our pride of great polish writers and musicians like Chopin or Mickiewicz. Japanese people really care about their culture including animations so every year a new saga or movie is being created new ideas are being illustrated.

I’m am personally a huge fan of this art and that’s why I will try to describe it to you and maybe it will be for some of you an entrance to this great and very diverse world. Now I will tell you something about historical background of my topic well everything began when Japanese directors were experimenting with animation techniques from USA France and even Russia and it war at the beginning of a XX century. First world wide success was in 1918.

After war anime became less popular because of a influence from USA (Walt Disney etc.). But from 60’s when directors were making their series based on manga comic books every person in the world knows what that means and where does it came from. As we know more and more anime are addressed to teenagers and adults there are not just stories for a young children some series are very complicated and though provoking. There a very big variety of anime kinds. We have anime connected to comedy, sci-fi, horror, fantasy, erotic movies as well as to other kinds. From this animations we can sometimes learn something about Japanese culture, it sometimes provoke us to think and make conclusions but it can make us laugh and just entertain us too so everyone will find there something for threir selves. Some of the anime series are incredible long I mean for real like “The Bold and the Beautiful”. The longest anime series are : Sazae-san (2040 till now), Doraemon (1049) , Anpanman (1000+).

What is you opinion about animations do you enjoy it or it is not your thing?

  1. Nice presentation entry, although when you're talking about the history of anime, you should also include some screens from old anime, not just rather modern titles :) But that's just me.

I personally like and watch anime, but I'm not an otaku. I like to see the more rare, older titles from 70's and 80's.

I like the website AnimePlanet. It allows you to keep track of what you saw and what you didn't see yet, including recommendations, reviews and such. My profile is here: http://www.anime-planet.com/users/YoungHiFi

Also, I disagree that anime had worldwide popularity before and after the golden era of Walt Disney movies. Prove it, I dare you :) Anime has seen worldwide expanse and popularity from the late 1970's, from what I recall. Of course the impact has grown since then, but that' when it started to get popular and mainstream outside of Japan.

  2. I like all most every type of animation and I really like anime. I would recomend Ghoste in the Shell movies and anime series becouse it has great animation and fantastic storie. And for people that think that anime is only for kids I would like to say that some title's are directed to grown-ups and to support that I would recommended anime called "Grave of the Fireflies" in Poland it's distributed under the title "Grobowiec świetlików".
