Below you can find a few ideas of what we can expect in the (near) future.
First up is Zumba Phone, the first phone with full voice control. Dictate a sms etc.

Need a small device? Have a look at Pantech C300!

Nokia 888, a phone that you can bend to your will ;-)

We have 4G networks incoming as well, providing 1 Gbit/s transfer rates over secured IP connections.
Lastly have a look at this cool OLED display which you can bend.
I'd like you to post what are your predictions for the future. Do you think mobile phones will be integrated within the human body or are they going to stay external devices as they are now?

20 year ago new technologies like access to mobile phone, fax, laptop or palmtop, Internet and email, and home PC were expensive rarities . New technologies of today become our commonplace servants . They become part of our lives.
ReplyDeleteWho knows how will look life after next 20 years.
The idea of electronics embedded in our bodies may seem far-fetched and unacceptable, but let us look at the realities and the opportunities before condemning it. The reality is that electronic systems have been embedded in our bodies for many years, for example in the form of heart pacemakers and cochlear implants for the deaf. Who knows maybe mobiles also find their special purpose. ;) No doubt a major impediment to progress in some areas will relate to the 'freedom of the individual'. However the technology will be there, whether we like it or not, and will be available to use in our body network if we decide to use it.
Mobiles embedded in human body could be a good idea. No more excuses like "oh I left my phone at home". Add to it augmented reality and we can call ourselves Terminators ;)
ReplyDeleteI would like to have PDA printed on my shirt, but only with option to fully turn it off.
ReplyDeleteBody integration sounds good, but I would prefer removable version.
It would be great when mobile phones will be connected to our body. I thnk it is only a matter of time. Nowdays mobile phones are not just for make calls these are multiple tools. In future our mobile tools will help us to manage our whole live.
ReplyDeleteMobile phone attached to your body? No way. For those of you who haven't seen Chuck (TV Show), there was a tool which you put on your arm like a glove (with OLED display) and it allowed to do such things like: make a call, track your position with GPS, operate the IT system of the building, connect to the internet and it possessed many other applications.
ReplyDeleteI think OLED displays will make a difference in the future. It's mobile, light, you can flip it, make a box out of it, etc.
Generally, it's hard to predict what will happen in the next 20 or so years, because when you look 20 years back there's still no spaceships which could fly with the speed of light (or there is one? ;>).
I'm trying to be optimist but it's good to be a little bit realistic too.
Ok, so why I can't buy new phone with wifi, gps, os (but not symbian), good camera with flash (xenon would be best), good big screen (maybe touchscreen) for a decent money? G1 would be good if it has more memory and better camera, every nokia is rubbish for their strange and complicated UI.
ReplyDeleteI think that it's very probable that future mobile phones will become a mobile Skype. Instead of using GMS, they will use the Internet.
ReplyDelete>Do you think mobile phones will be integrated >within the human body or are they going to >stay external devices as they are now?
ReplyDeleteInteresting question. My answer: it depends. If humankind is going to embrace bio-cybernetic implants then yes, mobile phones will be integrated with human body.
Mobile phone integrated within my body is the last thing I need, because turning it off and putting away would be rather hard. Sometimes peaceful life without ringing phone is better.
ReplyDeleteI think mobile phone turn to computer and you would only need keyboard and bigger display at home to use this for standard work. For me it will be great :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not really so for mobile phones being embedded in our bodies. I'm not so keen on people being transformed into cyborgs, although sometimes it is a kind of necessity (in medicine for example).
ReplyDeleteOut of all of these new and upcoming cell phone prototypes, I think I like Nokia's 888 the best. It has the highest potential to revolutionize the market IMHO.
I think that mobile phones will stay as external devices. Of course minimization processes will continue to develop, but all in all I don't see cellphone "integration" with human bodies. Ihe thought resembles a bit this whole conspiracy theory about implanting "citizen chips" under our skin, so a person can be easier controlled, etc.
ReplyDeleteNo, this is not for me :)
