As an example I will give to you my best title and it is NARUTO anime. There are many aspect of Japanese culture and daily routine. World in Naruto is really connected to the real life. The storyline is about ninja warriors.

The main characters are young warriors : Naruto Uzumaki, Neji Hyuuga, Sasuke Uchiha or Orochimaru each one of them have own special abilities and technique. These young people have to make tough choices in their lives beacouse they live in a cruel world full of fighting ninja clans.
By watching anime or reading Naruto manga we can learn something about several rules and traditions. For example some Japanese phrases like “sensei”- master or how people act before meal etc. There are some religious and historical aspects too. Narutos world is a real image of one of the japanse islands.

People in manga are wearing traditional clothes, houses are Japanese so it gives us a lot of knowedge about the country.
So summarize Naruto is a great combination of fun and useful this is an opportunity to know something and really enjoy it.

What is your opinion about this way of getting knowedge about some countries or cultures??
Historical anime is cool, although I wouldn't say that Naruto and similar titles are like totally accurate ;) As for Japanese culture, yes, it's obvious that one can learn from anime. Same as with movies and books :)
ReplyDeleteFor Japan it is obvious that you can learn so much from their movies, cartoons, books about their culture, living, environment, everything.
ReplyDeleteIMO, it's great that they do not resign from drawing and publishing stories in books, comics. With all this IT development and going into e-communication it most probably will transfer this state of art into e-publications @ youtube, vimeo or similar.
As of me, I like to get this type of knowledge by a lecture of a good story, by connecting nation history with a nice story. It's more memorable this way. At least for me. Connecting the dots, right? :)
Some time if anime is historical and I don't mean some part's of it but as a whole you can learn a lot of about a culture and history of Japane. But with some anime's you have to know that only a pices of it are historicaly based. And in Japanese culture manga is something as normal as a book for us and it's history quite old.
